Supersede, Art by Erik Barthels
Opening Reception
Description
Mandeville-based artist Erik Barthels will bring color and form to life at Hammond Regional Arts Center this October with his exhibition Supersede. Known for using watercolor and thin acrylic washes, Barthels uses a squeegee to spread pigments in fluid arches, creating organic patterns that seem to flow across the surface. His compositions are punctuated by collage elements, adding a layer of hard-edged geometry that contrasts with the soft washes of paint.
Head upstairs to the HRAC Mezzanine Gallery to view "#Snap,” featuring cell phone photographs by members of the local community. Both exhibitions will be on display at Hammond Regional Arts Center from October 4 through October 31st.
